Definition

The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for developing and executing The Children's Cabinet's comprehensive marketing and communications strategy to increase public awareness, enhance brand identity, and support fundraising efforts. This role leads the organization's digital and traditional marketing initiatives, oversees media and public relations efforts, and ensures brand consistency across all platforms. The manager supervises the Marketing Coordinator and the Community Outreach Coordinator and collaborates closely with leadership and program teams to amplify the organization's impact.

Duties:

Develop, implement, and assess the success of The Children's Cabinet's annual marketing and communication plan, aligning with the organization's mission and strategic priorities.

Maintain and strengthen The Children's Cabinet's brand identity by ensuring consistency in messaging, visual design, and storytelling across all marketing channels.

Work closely with the Executive Leadership and Donor Relations team to support fundraising campaigns, donor engagement, and major events, such as Art of Childhood, Adopt A Family, Great Reno Balloon Race, and graduation ceremonies.

Establish and maintain strong relationships with media contacts, serving as the primary liaison for press inquiries and story pitches.

Write and distribute media releases, ensuring appropriate follow-up to maximize coverage.

Organize and manage press conferences and media events to increase awareness of The Children's Cabinet's impact.

Oversee the organization's social media strategy, ensuring engaging, timely, and mission-driven content across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.).

Guide the Marketing Coordinator in managing daily social media content and community engagement.

Monitor analytics and trends to optimize content performance and audience growth.

Lead website content strategy for all Cabinet web properties, ensuring regular updates and an engaging and accessible user experience.

Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to enhance website functionality and content.

Manage SEO optimization and web analytics tracking to improve online visibility and engagement.

Manage the development of compelling stories that convey the impact of The Children's Cabinet's work.

Supervise and guide the marketing team in identifying, crafting, and distributing stories that highlight the organization's mission, client successes, and donor impact

Develop and oversee public awareness campaigns (print, digital, radio, television, and billboards).

Secure donated ad space when possible to maximize outreach efforts.

Partner with the Fund Development team to support marketing efforts for fundraising initiatives and donor engagement campaigns.

Create marketing materials, event promotions, and outreach strategies to increase participation in annual events.

Provide guidance on in-house graphic design projects using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Canva.

Ensure that all organizational print and digital materials align with branding standards.

Manage the production of promotional materials and liaise with external designers, print vendors, and mail houses as needed.

Supervise and mentor the Marketing Coordinator and the Community Outreach Coordinator, ensuring team members are supported and developed in their roles.

Work cross-departmentally with program directors and staff to ensure alignment in messaging and marketing strategies.

Provide marketing training and guidance to internal teams to strengthen organization-wide communications.

Support Executive Leadership with internal communications, as needed.

Manage the annual marketing and communications budget, ensuring cost-effective strategies that maximize impact.

Serve as a strategic advisor to Executive Leadership on brand positioning, public messaging, crisis communications, and agency-wide communications priorities.

Use data, analytics, and audience insights to guide marketing strategy, strengthen community awareness, support fundraising goals, and ensure communications efforts align with organizational priorities.

Identify opportunities for in-kind media donations and sponsorships to support marketing efforts.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of

  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, content creation, and social media management.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube) and scheduling tools.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with graphic design principles and basic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
  • Ability to manage website content, communications, and analytics (e.g., WordPress, Constant Contact, or similar platforms).
  • Computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, data base programs, etc., and the desire to learn new programs.
  • Possess photography and videography skills with an understanding of basic principles for capturing and editing visual content

  • Work with various community agency partners to improve access to services.
  • Manage large volumes of information, multitask and prioritize effectively in a busy office environment.

Special Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Five years of experience in marketing and communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Minium of 3 years experience in supervisions and management.
  • Be able to pass a background check.
  • Bilingual a plus.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle to get to and from work, events, and errands.
  • Must possess a valid Nevada Driver's license, proof of insurance if utilizing personal vehicle for company business, and a clean driving record.
  • Must be capable of fulfilling all the physical aspects of the job including but not limited to: being able to lift and carry 50 lbs.; able to walk up and down stairs, repetitive keystroking (initiating and responding to e-mails; typing copy; etc.)
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends. Some travel required; office visits and/or training.

  7. Communication: Effective communication is critical for program managers to ensure that all team members, Program Director, and stakeholders are informed and aligned. This includes written communication, such as status reports and documentation, as well as verbal communication, such as meetings and presentations.
  8. Adaptability: Program managers must be adaptable and able to navigate changes and uncertainties that may arise in their program(s). This includes adjusting plans and priorities as needed to ensure successful program delivery and that the Program Director is informed.
