The Strategic Operations and Innovation Manager plays a critical role in advancing The Children's Cabinet's strategic priorities through project management, organizational performance monitoring, cross-functional coordination, and innovation. Reporting to the Chief Strategy & Operations Officer (COSO), this position works closely with executive leadership, directors, and managers to ensure organizational initiatives are successfully implemented, monitored, and aligned with the agency's strategic plan.

The Strategic Operations and Innovation Manager serves as the organization's internal project management leader, coordinating complex initiatives that span multiple departments while providing executive-level analysis, reporting, and operational support. The role coordinates complex initiatives across departments, identifies and removes operational barriers, redesigns workflows, and helps teams use technology, automation, artificial intelligence, and data to improve how work is performed. 

This is a full-time position reporting to the Chief Strategy & Operations Officer.

Duties

- Coordinate implementation and ongoing monitoring of the agency's strategic plan.

- Translate strategic goals into actionable work plans, milestones, measures, and departmental responsibilities.

- Develop and maintain an organizational scorecard/dashboard and KPI system to track progress toward strategic priorities, and create related visual summaries for leadership, staff, and the Board.

- Prepare quarterly and annual strategic progress reports for executive leadership and the Board.

- Identify initiatives that are off track and coordinate corrective actions or improvement plans with responsible leaders.

- Oversee and implement special projects that enhance operational effectiveness and organizational impact, including developing Standard Operating Procedures and scaling best practices.

- Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and deliverables in collaboration with internal teams and stakeholders.

- Monitor project progress, track milestones, and adjust plans as needed to ensure successful outcomes.

- Conduct research and analysis to inform strategic decision-making, and identify and implement process improvements to streamline organizational functions.

- Support the Leadership Team in strategic planning, budgeting processes, and internal reporting.

- Serve as a connector across departments to ensure initiatives requiring multiple functions are coordinated effectively.

- Clarify roles, responsibilities, dependencies, timelines, and decision points for cross-functional work.

- Facilitate meetings and working groups focused on enterprise priorities, operational improvements, and strategic initiatives; track decisions, commitments, and follow-up actions.

- Help identify and resolve operational barriers that cross departmental boundaries, and promote consistent communication and alignment between executive leadership, directors, managers, and project teams.

- Prepare executive-level reports, presentations, and briefings for the Leadership Team.

- Support executive leadership in evaluating organizational capacity, risks, and opportunities.

- Participate in team meetings, workgroups, and organization-wide initiatives.

- Lead agency-wide innovation, process improvement, automation, and artificial intelligence initiatives that strengthen operations and reduce administrative burden.

- Assess current workflows, facilitate process mapping, and design practical future-state processes in partnership with program and administrative teams.

- Research and evaluate emerging technologies, AI tools, and automation opportunities relevant to nonprofit operations; develop recommendations based on organizational need, risk, cost, and expected impact.

- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, process documentation, user guides, implementation plans, and other resources that support consistent operations and scalable best practices.

- Coordinate staff training, communication, change management, and adoption activities for new technologies, systems, and processes.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Skills Required

Knowledge of:

- Principles of project planning, execution, tracking, and evaluation

- Data collection, analysis, and reporting tools

- Basic budgeting principles and familiarity with financial tracking

- Client focused program development and management

- Process improvement, workflow analysis, process mapping, and change management principles

- Microsoft 365 tools, including Teams, SharePoint, Planner, Forms, Excel, and Power Automate

- Artificial intelligence applications, workflow automation, business systems, and responsible technology adoption

 Special Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business, Nonprofit Management, or related field with + 5 years of experience in project management, program management, nonprofit administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities

- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional projects and implementing operational, technology, or process improvements; experience with Power BI, Power Automate, SharePoint, AI tools, or similar platforms preferred.

- Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to write for various audiences (government agencies, private foundations, donors).

- Must have reliable transportation for work-related travel. 

- Must possess a valid Nevada Driver's license and proof of insurance for using a personal vehicle for company business.

- May require some evening and weekend work.

- Job requires repetitive key stroking; ability to sit for long periods (2+ hours); must be able to lift and carry at least 40 pounds.

- Able to use office equipment (phones, fax, copier, mail meter, etc.).
